Yes, “essential oils” are technically steam distilled essences from plant materials, not lipid oils pressed from the seeds of fruit or from nuts. The wrong terminology is being used. Also, avocado oil is rich in omega 9/oleic fatty acids, not omega 3. I wish people would be more careful with their facts!

Totally with you! I mentioned in an editors note that lots of K-beauty products use the term “essential oil” when they actually are referring to facial oils—like avocado seed oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, you know, the stuff that we just call…. oils.

Many oils are potential skin irritants, so obviously I avoid those. But if we’re talking gentle oils like almond oil and grape seed oil and the likes I’m all for it.
