What are the best eye creams by budget? We broke down our recommendations from $20 to $60.

Whether you want treat dark circles and fine lines or simply just want to hydrate and de-puff, there’s an eye cream for you. Finding one that actually works, though, can be frustrating because it seems like the best ones always cost a ton of money.

What’s the best eye cream for your age? Read on to discover the perfect option for your skin, whether you’re dealing with fine lines, loss of elasticity, or anything in between.

The skin below the eye is thin, delicate, and is in frequent motion, so it’s the first area of the face to show signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and a lack of firmness. This is why beginning in your twenties, making an eye cream part of your daily AM and PM skin care routines is essential. However, because these “signs” are likely different if you’re 55 versus if you’re 25, it’s important to choose a formula that targets your skin’s current needs and to switch things up as these needs evolve.

Here, we’re sharing our top eye cream picks for every age, plus what to look for in a formula.

In your 20s? You’ll love the Hanskin Real Complexion Hyaluron Eye Serum

In your 20s, the name of the skin care game is prevention. For the eye area, this means keeping skin hydrated. Other issues you might be experiencing at this time are dark circles and puffiness. The Hanskin Real Complexion Hyaluron Eye Serum targets all of the above. The formula is refreshing and lightweight making it a good starter product, yet packs a punch with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and centella asiatica extracts that effectively lock in moisture, plump, and rejuvenate. It’s applicator is cooling, also helping to reduce puffiness!

In your 30s? Go for the I’m From Ginseng Eye Cream

By now, you want to start ramping up your defense against premature aging. Ginseng root extract, the star ingredient of this cream, helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and because it’s high in antioxidants, it helps prevent deeper wrinkles from forming. The formula also works to smooth and plump with hyaluronic acid.

If you’re experiencing fine lines and wrinkles, this eye serum is here to help. The formula features retinal and niacinamide, a dream team that works to tackle lines and wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

In your 50s and beyond? Try the Elensilia CPP Collagen 80% Intensive Eye Cream

Because your skin is more susceptible to collagen degradation and deep wrinkles, we suggest looking for an eye cream that’s packed with a powerful blend of active ingredients like peptides. The Elensilia eye cream contains two types of patented peptides that promote collagen production and improve circulation to de-puff and reduce dark circles, respectively. It also boasts 80% hydrolyzed collagen to firm, plump and improve overall skin texture.

Bottom Line

Eye cream is an essential part of any skin regimen. While most are good for hydrating and targeting fine lines, some are better equipped than others to treat concerns like deep wrinkles, dark circles, and lack of firmness. For more eye cream suggestions, click here!

Something we hear often from readers of the Klog is, “I don’t know if my eye cream is actually doing anything.” If this sounds like you, read on.

Keeping the skin around your eyes looking bright, firm, and smooth can take years off of your face, which is why using an eye cream is an important step in your routine. But if you’ve been applying it religiously and you’re not seeing these results, what gives?

We spoke with a board-certified dermatologist and an esthetician to get the scoop on the potential reasons why your eye cream may not be working for you. Below, we’ve outlined problems that inhibit an eye cream’s effectiveness and how you can get results.

You’re not giving your eye cream enough time to work.

Eye creams generally take four to six weeks for the active ingredients to make a noticeable difference on your skin, so think twice before ditching your eye cream if you haven’t given it adequate time to work.

You’re not pairing your eye cream with SPF.

You’ve likely heard before that wearing sunscreen is the best way to prevent wrinkles, and well, it’s true. “The benefits of the right eye cream go out the window if you don’t use them in connection with a sunscreen,” says Sarah Akram, a master esthetician based in Washington D.C.

To keep the area around your eyes smooth and young, be diligent about sunscreen and wear sunglasses with UV protection. You can also use a concealer that contains SPF under your eyes. Akram likes the Clé de Peau Concealer SPF 25.

Your eye cream doesn’t have the right ingredients for your skin concerns.

Using the right eye cream to target your skin care concerns is absolutely essential for seeing results.

“Seven out of ten first time clients I see are using eye cream products that lack key ingredients, including antioxidants such as vitamin E, C, peptides, or retinol which smooth, firm, and brighten skin around the eyes,” says Akram.

To determine the right ingredients to look for, first consider the specific concerns you want to tackle.

For dark circles,  Dr. Debra Jaliman, an NYC-based dermatologist, recommends looking for eye cream products with niacinamide. For puffiness, she likes caffeine, and for moisture, she’s a fan of formulas with hyaluronic acid.

Try the Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Intensive Eye Cream. Formulated with licorice water and licorice extract, niacinamide, caffeine and sodium hyaluronate, this powerful eye cream will help brighten dark circles and hyperpigmentation, hydrate and depuff your eyes like magic.

Acwell Eye Cream with Hand

For fine lines, Akram suggests a formula that’s loaded with antioxidants, peptides, and retinol like the C-Quence Eye Gel by Environ.

RELATED:  How to Find the Right Eye Cream For Your Skin Concern

And just as it’s important to look for ingredients you want in your eye cream, it’s also key to look out for the ingredients that might work against you. For example, Dr. Jaliman recommends that those with milia (tiny cysts that are clogged pores), avoid greasy eye cream that contains pore-clogging ingredients. A lightweight, gentle eye cream like the Erborian Seve De Bamboo Eye Matte would be more ideal.

You have unrealistic expectations about your eye cream.

Unfortunately no skin care product can totally reverse the hands of time – there are limits. If you’re not getting the results you want, it may be time to seek a professional treatment. “Some think [eye cream] will get rid of deep crow’s feet, when what they really need is Botox,” says Dr. Jaliman.

You’re using too much eye cream.

So you’re using large portions of eye cream every night, and still not seeing results? As it turns out, the amount you’re using may actually be the problem. It’s easy to think that using more will lead to stronger results, but this actually isn’t the case.

While it’s okay to apply eye cream in the morning and at night, “using more doesn’t mean you will get a better result from your eye cream,” says Dr. Jaliman. “A pea-size is all you need”.

You’re just not getting enough sleep.

Of all the solutions to maximize the effectiveness of your eye cream, this is the one you have the most agency over. Getting a proper amount of sleep will do wonders for making your eyes look awake and bright. Taking care of yourself keeps your skin young and happy, too.

“Smoking, a poor diet, and improper sleep habits all contribute to poor skin health, particularly around the eyes,” says Akram. “I always say to my clients, ‘good skin health is similar to losing weight—you can’t out-run a poor diet.’ The right eye cream only works in concert with a good diet and sleep regimen.”

The Bottom Line

Eye cream is not often cheap, so you want to make sure it’s doing its job. Remember to consider your main skin concerns and active ingredients. Once you’ve found “the one”, don’t forget the SPF and your beauty rest.

Eye cream or Photoshop? After using the Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream for one month, one woman watched her fine lines smooth out and her undereye bags and dark circles nearly disappear. Follow her journey below, and learn more about the benefits of fermented ingredients, including our top product picks that incorporate them.

Elke, 48, was never a big fan of eye creams. “I was never motivated to continue use much after two weeks since there were never any visible changes,” she told us.

If there were any formula up for the challenge of turning Elke into an eye cream convert, it’d be the Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream, a product that was crowned the top-performing anti-aging formula in Korea in 2018.

The formula contains eight patented peptides – ingredients that can boost collagen and elasticity – in addition to adenosine, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid to firm, plump, brighten, and hydrate. It also contains K-beauty’s popular anti-aging ingredient, wild ginseng root, and EGF (Epidermis Growth Factor) that work to protect and rejuvenate your skin.

Further, this eye cream was developed with a special fermentation process, breaking down these efficacious ingredients to allow for better skin penetration and absorption around the delicate eye area.

We tasked Elke with using the product twice a day for one month. Read on below to learn about her experience. Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream Review

What were your first impressions of the eye cream?

It wasn’t heavy and it felt soft and silky both on my fingers and around my eyes. There was no tingling or irritation when I applied the product. When putting it on in the morning, it seemed to absorb pretty quickly which was helpful since my prep time before leaving the house is only a half hour.

Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream Review

How quickly did you start to see results?

Two days after starting the eye cream a friend commented that I looked different, that my eyes looked more rested. She had not known that I was testing the eye cream.

What results did you see after four weeks of use?

After four weeks the results are huge. I don’t get much sleep and I’m in front of a computer screen all day, every day. Even with a lack of rest and with continual eye strain, the eye cream has helped my eyes look less puffy and less tired in four weeks. I can just imagine how much better the results would be if I got more sleep.

Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream Review

Any final thoughts?

I don’t use any makeup or foundation. I’m sure if I did my eyes would look even smoother with this cream as the initial base. But this cream makes me feel even better accepting my natural skin and letting it shine.

Fermented ingredients: Our top product picks

Just like how fermented foods aid digestion, fermented ingredients in skin care reap many benefits. Fermentation not only helps ingredients absorb faster into the skin, but it also helps boost the nutritional density of an ingredient, increasing the effectiveness of the product.

Below are some of our favorite products with fermented ingredients:

Then I Met You™ The Giving Essence: This essence has a luxurious list of ingredients that help hydrate, brighten, and revitalize the skin in one step. More than 80% of its formula contains naturally fermented ingredients like galactomyces ferment filtrate and saccharomyces ferment filtrate, which help reduce the appearance of sebum, pores and blackheads.

Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm: Formulated with soybean ferment extract, nutrient-rich rice bran water and Korean herbal medicine, this cleansing balm not only melts away impurities, makeup and excess oil, but it also helps the skin retain moisture and brighten the skin. While it contains powerful ingredients, it has a soothing, sherbert-like texture that cleanses without irritating the skin.

Son Reve Tri-Bio Treatment Essence: Boasting a clean but nutrient-packed formula of 90% fermented ingredients such as rice ferment filtrate and galactomyces ferment filtrate, this treatment essence has amazing skin brightening benefits while hydrating and revitalizing the skin.

The popular Acwell Licorice pH Balancing line includes a standout eye cream and it’s good. Acwell’s Licorice pH Balancing Intensive Eye Cream, brightens, firms, and hydrates…it’s a cult classic in the making.

Did you know that dark circles can be genetic? Despite my best efforts to get eight hours of sleep as often as possible, the purple-tinged rings under my eyes will not budge. My mom has them, as does my grandmother and typically, it’s a result of overproduction of melanin or bone structure.

I learned from a young age that the best way to cover up dark circles is by using a peach-toned concealer (my all-time favorite is the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector). But how great would it be if I didn’t have to cover them up at all? Recently, I’ve been on the hunt for an eye cream that hydrates, prevents fine lines, and can brighten up my dark circles.

The Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Intensive Eye Cream is a prime candidate.

The formula is the most recent addition to the Licorice pH Balancing line, a collaboration between K-beauty brand Acwell and Soko Glam that includes a best-selling cleansing toner and an essence mist, both of which I use every day.

RELATED: The pH-Balancing Toner That Deep Cleans Your Skin

Like the other products in Acwell’s licorice line, the star ingredients in the eye cream are licorice root water and licorice root extract. Studies have shown that the plant can actually improve and prevent hyperpigmentation and give skin an overall brighter appearance. Then the formula contains potent anti-aging ingredients like peptides, green tea, blueberry extracts, and glutathione (the latter three are all rich in antioxidants) and also features caffeine to firm and reduce puffiness.

In addition to the ingredient list, the eye cream stands out from the crowd for a number of reasons. One is the packaging. If you’re not a fan of jar eye creams, you’ll really appreciate the fact that the Acwell eye cream comes in an ergonomic tube. It allows you to deposit the perfect size drops of formula on your finger or directly under and around the eyes for precise application.

RELATED: Why Your Eye Cream Isn’t Working

The formula itself feels silky and substantial, without being too thick or greasy. It absorbs quickly and skin is left feeling soft and smooth. I find that my concealer never pills or looks cake-y on top.

Then there’s the price. The eye cream costs $30 for 30ml of product. Most of the best-selling eye creams available right now cost much more for half (15ml) the product. And if you’re looking for an extra dose of the skin brightening ingredient licorice check out Acwell’s Licorice Loves Duo Set.

As for the results? I decided to test the eye cream for 30 days to see if it would make any noticeable differences in my dark circles. I’ve noticed a slight change in coloration and have been less heavy-handed with my concealer, plus I do find I look less tired on days I’ve lost sleep. While my dark circles are far from erased (hyperpigmentation can take months to fade), I’m hopeful that using this product consistently will help fade them away.

Can you use one of the strongest ingredients on one of the most sensitive areas of your skin? We explore the question below.

Retinol is the most prized anti-aging ingredient, popular for its reparative and rejuvenating effects. The eye area is typically the part of your face that shows signs of aging first, making eye cream such a staple in any anti-aging routine. So, it makes sense that you would want to combine the two. But, is retinol really safe for the eye area? Keep reading to find out.

Why should you consider using an eye cream that contains retinol?

“Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that works by binding to retinoic acid receptors, which then can affect gene expression,” says New York City-based dermatologist Dr. Hadley King. “This makes them very powerful and able to produce significant changes in the skin.” According to Dr. King, the ingredient has the ability to “increase the turnover of skin cells, increase collagen production and decrease discoloration.” Using an eye cream with retinol can be extremely beneficial for anti-aging as it can work to smooth fine lines and wrinkles effectively and boost collagen production under the eyes.

What should you do to avoid irritation?

Because retinol is a strong ingredient, using it under your eyes has the potential to cause irritation. The under eye area is one of the most delicate areas on your skin, so it’s best to proceed with caution when using the ingredient.
RELATED: Do You Really Need…to Use Retinol?
NYC-based dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner recommends using retinol products specifically formulated for skin around the eyes as opposed to the retinol product you apply on your face, as they can be less irritating (though this can work for those who aren’t prone to sensitivity – patch test to be sure). “Eye creams containing retinol are usually specially formulated to contain low concentrations or mild forms,” he says. “They also contain hydrating ingredients to protect the delicate skin around the eyes.”
When implementing a retinol eye cream in your routine, both Dr. King and Dr. Zeichner recommend taking it slow and steady. They recommend starting with a small amount about two nights per week, then working your way up. You can also dilute it with your normal moisturizer to further prevent irritation.

When should you start using eye creams with retinol?

“It is never too early to start anti-aging! Retinoids are used regularly for teens for treating acne, so they are certainly safe for younger skin,” says Dr. King. However, they may not be totally necessary until you reach your mid-twenties and early thirties when cell turnover starts to slow down.

What are some retinol alternatives that can be found in eye creams?

If you have sensitive skin and don’t want to risk the irritation, there are many other anti-aging alternatives to retinol that can be used near the eyes. Dr. Zeichner recommends bakuchiol, which is “a botanical extract that works through the same receptors as retinol to help stimulate collagen.” It’s not quite as potent as retinol, and the possibility of irritation is much lower.
Dr. King likes eye creams with anti-aging ingredients such as vitamin C, goji berry extract, and peptides. Two eye creams we love that contain peptides are the Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Eye Care Cream and the Elensilia CPP Collagen 80% Intensive Eye Cream (shop both below!).

Bottom Line

Retinol is a very effective ingredient, and its skin benefits can definitely be extended over to the eye area. But, it’s important to take it one step at a time. “Some people may not be able to tolerate it, but most people will be able to – if they start with a small amount of a moisturizing formula a couple of nights per week and increase as needed,” Dr. King says. And don’t forget to patch test!

Whether you’re in your late twenties or your mid-sixties, the Elensilia CPP Collagen 80% Intensive Eye Cream is the perfect do-it-all eye cream. My mom and I can attest.

Throughout my twenties I’ve used a revolving door of hydrating eye creams, never quite finding one that really stands out from the pack in terms of results and overall user experience. Of course, when you’ve yet to sprout a wrinkle and can function off of little sleep, you don’t exactly need an eye cream to perform miracles.
But alas I’m turning 30 this year and the fine lines that have been slowly developing around my eyes won’t let me forget it, which means it’s finally time to start stepping up my eye cream game. Who better to take cues from than my own mother Linda (pictured below), who, in her mid-sixties, has managed to stave off deep eye wrinkles with the help of effective anti-aging products (okay, and genetics too).
One of those products is the Elensilia CPP Collagen 80% Intensive Eye Cream and ever since she started using it earlier this year, she hasn’t stopped raving about it.
RELATED: Why Your Eye Cream Isn’t Working
Elensilia CPP Collagen 80% Intensive Eye Cream
“The eye area looks smooth as soon as I apply this eye cream and my concealer does not cake up when applied on top. Also the eye cream helps dark circles to look brighter,” she told me. As for long-term results, she feels that the wrinkles around and under her eyes have noticeably diminished since using the formula.
Aside from the results, she’s a big fan of the texture. “The cream is so emollient that I can pat it on the delicate eye area and I am not pulling on my skin; it glides on so smoothly,” she said. “With other eye creams, I was  pulling the skin as I tried to pat it on.”
To top it off, the eye cream is not only super affordable (it’s $20), but a little goes a long way – my mom has only just cracked open her second tube of 2019.
So what’s in the mom-approved tube? Most notably, the formula contains 80% collagen extract. Unfortunately applying collagen topically won’t increase the production of collagen in your skin – a process that slows down as we age, thus causing wrinkles to form. But! It does help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles to make them look less prominent and is super moisturizing, which also helps prevent wrinkles.
RELATED: 9 Powerful Anti-Aging Ingredients Popular in K-Beauty
The formula also contains two types of peptides that together protect against collagen degradation, reduce puffiness, and brighten dark circles. Then there’s some anti-inflammatory gold sprinkled in there too.
I’ve now been using the eye cream for two months, and so far, it’s living up to my mom’s hype. My eye area looks less 29-going-on-30 and more 28-going-on-29, plus my hereditary dark circles require less concealer to brighten up.
One major pro for me is that the formula is lightweight and fast-absorbing, so it hasn’t caused any milia or rashes under my eyes, both of which I’m prone to with eye creams.
I guess the moral of the story is, mothers really do know best!

If there’s one part of our faces that gets the most attention in terms of research efforts, it has to be our eyes. That totally makes sense if you think about it. Eyes are one of the first areas that show signs of aging: fine smile lines at the outer corners (sweetly referred to as laugh lines), greying and creping underneath in forms of bags or circles, and general wrinkling on and around the lid. As you’d expect, countless products are released on the regular, and many do deliver on their promises to some degree. You can thank all the dedicated research for that.

Admittedly, the whole “make sure my eyes look good” regimen can get a little mundane. Korean beauty has come to the rescue, per usual, with products as fun to use as they are effective at keeping your delicate eye skin plump and pretty. Let’s talk about a few of my recent favorites.

Banila Co It Radiant Lace Hydrogel Eye Patch

This lacy eye mask by Banila gives you the perfect excuse to selfie while simultaneously giving your skin a boost. I love that it’s only $5, making it a fun party favor for a sleepover with your girlfriends. I’d also like to note that it smells good and sticks to your skin, so there’s no constant re-applying during the 20-minute setting.

Noteworthy Ingredients:
– Niacinamide: a potent antioxidant/vitamin that fights signs of aging
– Green tea: brightens the skin
– Lactobacillus ferment: an anti-inflammatory that soothes the skin

Missha Misa Geum Sul-Vitalizing Eye Cream (R)

This is truly one of the more luxurious eye creams on the market. It’s thick and creamy and loaded with traditional, medicinal ingredients that’ll give you noticeable results almost immediately. Its packaging—a stout golden pot with jewel-like details on the lid —also points to high-quality. A little goes a long way with this one, and once applied it absorbs quickly into the skin.

Noteworthy Ingredients:
– Wild ginseng: linked to increasing collagen production
– Deer antlers: Traditionally used in Asian skincare and helps to regenerate new tissue and assist in anti-aging. Don’t worry, no animals were harmed in the making of this product!
– Reishi mushrooms: a super hydrator that reduces fine lines and wrinkles and makes the skin more elastic

Tony Moly Intense Care Syn-Ake Eye Mask

Another striking eye patch mask, this time featuring a slick, jelly-esque texture that’s sopped in all kinds of skin-nourishing ingredients. The texture, though strange, is important because it’s gentle on the skin, ensuring there’s no tugging on this delicate part of the face. It also stays cool, which makes for a soothing experience.

Noteworthy Ingredients:
– Chondrus crispus: also known as red seaweed, it’s an emollient that hydrates the skin and protects it from free radicals
– Agar: also known as algae, it conditions and hydrates the skin
– Butylene glycol: This helps all the other ingredients penetrate more deeply
What are your favorite eye products? Do any of them have any noteworthy ingredients that deliver results for you?

Stories From a Curator is a column by Charlotte Cho, the curator and cofounder of Soko Glam. As a licensed esthetician and the author of The Little Book of Skin Care, Cho gives a glimpse into her discovery process and what brands and products make the cut for the curated site.

The task of choosing an eye cream should not be taken lightly. The danger is this: If the eye cream is too emollient, it will lead to clog pores and tiny white dots appearing near the skin around the eyes. The white dots, also known as milia, are incredibly stubborn and it usually takes a trip to the dermatologist to get them completely removed.

So it was a true treat when I came across the Erborian Seve De Bamboo Eye. It stood out to me because it was the very first gel-based eye cream I have ever used and it was formulated with a favorite skincare ingredient of mine: bamboo. These are features of an eye cream that won’t clog pores, yet will cool, soothe, and hydrate this delicate skin.

The soothing, cooling, and hydration effects come from the bamboo extracts, but the real magic is in the bamboo fibers, which are made out of natural proteins and lipids, and act as an invisible net by keeping the moisture locked in place. (More on my obsession with their bamboo line here.)

You can’t forget the other skin benefiting amino acids and vitamins, which include arginine, panthenol, and glycerin. Such a strong combo of anti-aging ingredients in a travel-friendly and hygienic tube!

Gel eye creams are truly perfect for normal, oily to combo skin types. These days I am normal with an oily t-zone and I tend to reach for this eye cream in the morning because it doubles as an eye primer (after the skin slurps it up, it dries with a matte finish). That’s a plus because my eye makeup often does not mix with skin that has just had a creamy product slathered all over it.

Erborian describes the eye cream as a, “breath of fresh air” and, while I tend to glaze over overzealous product descriptions, I felt there was definitely truth to this statement. Think: When you’re overworked, squinting at the computer for far too long and the dry air is making your skin pucker, the first signs show off right near your eyes. Just a few dabs of this makes my sensitive eye area feel instantly refreshed and energized without feeling sticky, which is exactly what a great eye cream should do!

What causes dark circles around the eyes? It turns out there are multiple reasons. Here, we outline all the things that cause dark circles and how to treat them.

“Wow, you look tired.” That’s the number one phrase you hear when you’ve skipped on sleep or you happened to forego makeup for the day. It’s irritating, to say the least, and can make you a bit self-conscious of your dark circles. But, the reality is that they’re completely normal. So, there’s no reason to be embarrassed. But this doesn’t mean you don’t want to reduce their appearance from time to time. The best way to do that is to understand the cause for your dark circles in the first place.
But what causes dark circles around the eyes? Eye issues appear in three major forms: dark circles, fine lines, and eye bags and puffiness. So, this means dealing with eye issues is a lot more complex than it’s made out to be. There is no miracle cream or serum you can apply that will rid of them in an instant. But having a dedicated eye routine can help to reduce the appearance of these issues. Here, we’ve broken down the main causes of dark circles and how to combat them.

Lack of Sleep

If you’ve skipped a few nights of sleep, you’re likely to notice that your dark circles have become more pronounced. We know that the eye area has much thinner skin than the rest of our face but when we skip sleeping this reality sinks in. Lack of sleep causes the blood vessels under your eyes to swell. This swelling creates a darkness under your eyes. As a result, your dark circles become more apparent and your already delicate eye area can appear dull, dark, and tired.
Over time, these temporary circles will fade once you’ve caught up on sleep. But, besides catching up on some Z’s and having a healthy diet, you’ll want to nourish your stressed out eyes. The I’m From Ginseng Eye Cream is a good choice. It’s packed with ginseng and hyaluronic acid that intensely moisturize the eye area. When applied, this eye cream also has a cooling sensation that will soothe and de-puff.

Genetics

We know you don’t want to hear this, but sometimes genetics are the cause of dark circles. And this is the case for many people. Womp womp.
If you’ve had dark circles since you were little, it’s likely it’s hereditary. When most people think about dark circles, they usually believe it’s a result of pigment, but in most cases, it isn’t. For genetic dark circles, it’s actually caused by an overproduction of melanin. This overproduction then results in a dark appearance under the eyes. It can occur in any skin tone but it shows up more often in darker skin tones.
To combat this, you’ll want to invest in a brightening eye cream. The Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Circle Eye Cream is a luxurious cream that combats pigmentation. This is thanks to the addition of vitamin C and niacinamide in the formula. Niacinamide, a powerful brightening ingredient, works by slowing down the transfer of melanin to your skin cells. As a result, it prevents the buildup of pigmentation. Adding this eye cream to your routine will fight the cause of dark circles and keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay.

Aging

As we age, it’s like our dark circles become even more obvious than they were before. The area around our eyes is thinner and much more delicate than our face. This plays a role in how apparent our dark circles are. Unfortunately, as we age this already thin skin becomes even thinner, as a result of our body losing collagen and subcutaneous fat. The fat by our eyes keeps them looking youthful and without it, they can appear sunken in. Plus, this makes fine lines and wrinkles more noticeable as well.
The best way to keep this at bay is by pumping that area with hydration. The Etude House Moistfull Collagen Eye Cream contains nourishing ingredients that intensely hydrate and brighten the skin, like collagen and lauric acid. These ingredients work together to smooth fine lines and bring life back to your tired eyes.

Salty food & Allergies

It’s like gravity is out to get us. Besides having to deal with dark circles and fine lines, we also have puffiness to avoid. There are many reasons why your eyes are looking extra puffy in the morning. It could be a result of allergies that are irritating your eyes. It could also be fluid retention from indulging in way too many salty foods the night before. Another reason is a natural part of the aging process, in which the loss of fat leads to sagging under the eyes.
Chronic eye puffiness and eye bags are hassles to deal with. To treat the puffiness, you have to find out what’s causing it in the first place. Once you’ve figured that out, you can effectively treat it. If you’re indulging in salty foods, you may want to try to stick to a healthier diet. Plus, drink tons of water to make sure you’re hydrated. As for allergies, the best way to treat this is by speaking to your doctor. They can suggest the proper ways to combat these symptoms. Once you alleviate that irritation, the puffiness should calm down.

When it comes to eye bags/puffiness as a natural part of aging, it’s much more complicated to treat. The one thing you can do is keep your eye area as moisturized as possible. This will help slow down the signs of aging. The Missha Misa Geum Sul Vitalizing Eye Cream is formulated with ginseng water, wild ginseng extract, deer antler extract, and reishi mushroom extract. These powerful herbal ingredients work together to nourish and fight signs of aging.

Bottom Line

Like any other part of your skin care routine, the eyes are just as complicated. To combat your eye issues, it’s important to find the cause of them in the first place. Once you do that, you can effectively treat the underlying issues and wake up those tired eyes!
